Anybody who knows me as more than a Facebook friend probably knows I heart cake. I really do. I’m a sucker for it. I never make or buy a cake because I know I’ll eat …

Snow: Don’t hate. Participate.

This picture was taken on Tuesday afternoon. Lincoln Porter (head down, hiking in right hand corner) works hard to earn some early season turns.

Snow has happened folks, and will happen some mo’. You may not like it, but it is here. I know it’s cold, and it’s a bummer to have to scrape your windshield, and the bottom of your jeans get wet sometimes … but you gotta forget about that stuff and focus on the good things.

1. Sledding
2. Christmas
3. Thanksgiving
4. Tubing
5. Skiing
6. Snowboarding
7. An excuse to wear your snuggie?
8. Snowball fights (although rumor has it they are technically illegal in Provo).
9. Snow forts
10. Hot Chocolate
11. Good smells of cold, winter, cider, etc.
12. Layering clothes and wearing boots (that one was contributed by my wife.)
13. Pumpkin pies
14. Fireplaces
15. Christmas music
16. Giving gifts
17. Lights put up everywhere
18. AND MANY OTHER RADICAL AWESOME NEAT-O things!

See? It’s gonna be awesome! So forget about the fact that finals are coming and that you may slip on the ice and end up with your backside soaking wet and cold. Snow and joy go together like Santa and Rudolph.

I just have to say that hiking in the snow is so much fun. Get a pair of $50 snow boots from Cabela’s, find some cheap snow pants, and get a set of trekking poles and gloves at Walmart. We have so many wonderful trails within ten minutes of Provo, and it’s really fun to get out there and see the beautiful mountains. I used to miss the beach and hated the snow for a long time, but now I think it’s a blast.
